In 2007 the company focused on fast growing market segments such as laptops, digital cameras and camcorders, communicators and smart phones. This along with collaboration with perspective vendors and successful mergers and acquisitions helped to achieve the impressive results. Early in 2007 the Telecommunication Products Distribution Department of Marvel Group of Companies merged with the Marvel-Distribution Company. In December 2007 the Audio/Video Department of Marvel-Distribution acquired a distribution division of Audiomania – a Moscow based company dealing with Hi-Fi and High-End audio and video equipment. In early 2008 Marvel-Distribution merged with a distribution department of ERIMEX Group of Companies which focused on supplies of monitors and acoustic systems.
The biggest sales volume among the product departments (45 percent) belongs to Components, Peripherals and Digital Equipment Department. Networking department’s share in 2007 increased by 4 percent and amounted to 26 percent of the total turnover of Marvel-Distribution. Sales of laptops, PCs and servers accounted for 29 percent.
In 2007 the dealer network expanded up to 2160 companies in 130 Russian cities (in 2006 there were 2062 companies in 122 cities). Top dealer’s share accounted for 3.14 percent.
In 2007 project sales grew by 57 percent and amounted to 40 percent in Marvel-Distribution total turnover, and reseller (‘box’) sales increased by 48 percent and accounted for 60 percent of the sales volume.
Supplies to long-time dealers amounted to 89 percent of the total sales of the company. 145 new companies joined Marvel’s dealer network (51 of them are based in the Russian regions) and added 11 percent to the total turnover. There were some losses, too: in 2007 due to various reasons 47 companies discontinued their operations with Marvel (1.8 percent of expected sales volume).
Top 12 Russian cities in terms of sales volume are: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Vladivostok, Perm, Khabarovsk, Samara, Krasnodar, Kazan.
2007 was remarkable for outstanding marketing activity. During 2007 Marvel organized 77 marketing actions on products of 26 vendors. The company held 67 workshops and trainings in 16 Russian cities, 7 informal meetings with dealers, the Dealer academy in Japan, the Football academy in Turkey, 5 trips for the winners of marketing actions: to Egypt, Singapore, London, Bali and Vietnam.
